TIFFE MISSION STATEMENT

The Institute For Family Enrichment (TIFFE) exists to provide innovative responses to societal problems in Hawaii having impact on children and families. TIFFE is dedicated to providing training, consultation, educational programs and therapeutic services designed to improve the quality of personal, family, and professional relationships.

TIFFE VISION:

The Institute For Family Enrichment (TIFFE) is an organizational family where individual growth is encouraged through warmth, nurturance, respect, acceptance, and unconditional love. From within this circle of nurturance, TIFFE reaches out to serve children, families, and the community. We strive to replenish souls in the journey of life as we work to make a difference. Enjoy the ride together!

CORE VALUES:

We believe that human beings are worthy individuals, capable of choosing their own paths. To support learning and growing we value individuals, respect their culture, and provide the dignity that is their right as human beings. Woven into all aspects of TIFFE is the concept and practice of nurturing principles as the core strength of who we are and what we do.

PHILOSOPHY AND GUIDING BELIEFS:

The foundation of TIFFE is built on four cornerstones:

  1. A belief that human beings are individuals of worth and capable of realizing their potential.
  2. A commitment to learning and growth as essential to human development.
  3. A holistic viewpoint and systems approach to services and program design and delivery.
  4. A value for instituting concepts, designs, and services to create a comprehensive model of service delivery.

Several premises guide the program direction and development of specific projects at TIFFE:

  1. The family is a system. To change the system, all members must be involved in learning new skills.
  2. Appropriate and inappropriate parenting exists on a continuum. All families experience a range of healthy and unhealthy interactions to some degree.
  3. Learning occurs on three levels: the cognitive level (knowledge), the affective level (feeling), and behavioral level (skills). To be effective, education and intervention must engage the learner on all three levels.
  4. Helping men, women, boys and girls increase their positive self-esteem and self-concept, gives them a better chance at being capable, nurturing people.

Services and programs are designed to meet common human needs and provide opportunities to develop attitudes, knowledge, and skills necessary to make positive choices. TIFFE integrates a number of intervention strategies covering the continuum from prevention to treatment in order to create a comprehensive model of service delivery. Such a model enhances the individual's chances for success by providing access to a range of services to meet specific or specialized needs and reduces the stress of fragmented services. It also allows program services to build upon, reinforce, and integrate each level of awareness and learning, further ensuring success for the individual.
