To fit all different lifestyles and schedules, we offer a variety of programs. Whether you're a business professional, empty-nester, retiree, or high school student, ....we've got a program for you! We offer quality relationships that will bring joy and magic to the "Little" and to the "Big," as well.
Community-Based Program This opportunity matches a Big Brother or Big Sister with a Little Brother or Little Sister. The "Bigs" and "Littles" spend two to four times a month just having fun and making memories. Whether you go to the beach, spend a day in the park or just hang-out in the school library. The experience will be magical!
The Big is matched with a Little in a local school. Then, 30 minutes each week the match shares various activities such as going over homework, eating lunch in the playground, or playing in the school playground. Everyone has something to offer as a mentor. We're not looking for child psychologists or superheroes. Kids in our program just need a friend they can talk to-a normal, stable positive person.
If you're a caring person with 30 minutes a week, you can be a Big Brother or Big Sister. Our professionally trained staff members screen all applicants thoroughly before matching them with children, and consistent agency support is given to the mentor, child and child's parent or guardian. Being a "Big" means listening to and learning from a Little Brother or Little Sister, but most of all it means being there, hanging out, having fun.
Volunteers who are Big Brothers and Big Sisters are people who decide to share some magical moments with a Little Brother or Little Sister. This relationship is based on friendship, guidance and support through mentoring. The act of sharing time is the most important gift from a Big Brother or Big Sister. Our "Bigs" and "Littles" enjoy playing sports, seeing movies, going over schoolwork, washing the car, taking walks, volunteering in their communities, or just hanging out. Many activities are set according to the volunteer and child's schedules. |
