Being a Big Brother of Big Sister is a great way to make a difference in your community.
Being a Big (Mentor) is about spending quality one-on-one time with a child, enjoying all sorts of
activities together. Sometimes it’s as easy as taking your Little Brother or Sister along with you to
something you were going to do anyway – like lunch. You’ve got to eat, right?
Or
You can give your child the gift of a mentor- and a new friend!
A study on the Big Brothers Big Sisters youth organization found that kids matched with a Big Brother or Big Sister:
-
Are more confident
-
Are more likely to steer clear of drugs and alcohol
-
Do better in school
-
Get along better with their family and friends
-
Feel better about themselves.
If you are interested in becoming a Big or enrolling your child to become a little, please contact Big Brothers Big Sisters of Molokai’s Program Manager Taylor Kaawa at kaawa@wave.hicv.net or contact Kualapu’u Elementary School.
